Default ? for the Kayak guys

What you think about the Ocean Drifter?

I'm asking cause i got a $100 gift card to academy and want to put it towards a kayak. It shows on the internet that they are selling them for $599.99, I have not been to academy to check on the price there but just want to know if its a good one to start in.

I have read and read and then read some more on almost every kayak out there and only really settling on this one cause i got the gift card but what i have read is that it is a ok kayak.

Thanks, Micah

For a first yak the drifter will work great, it is a barge though,,, look at other options and try before you buy,,,,,I've paddled the drifter, big game prowler, prowler 13, manta ray, ultimate, and magic.... I'm stuck on Native products, check them out,,,, also look at classifieds for a used one. Jdub

i would def wait for a demo day if you can.

unfortunately if your like me, you cant wait, i havent paddled the drifter, but i can tell you it will probably be a great beginner boat and thats all. If you arent gonna be going a whole lot then try it, but you really do get what you pay for in a yak.

Check classifieds as well as bckfc.org, and laffayettekayakfishing.com

let me know if you need any help

I went to academy and changed my mind on the drifter.

I watched a video with some guys fishing out of some heritage redfish and being able to stand up with no problem.

If i could find a really good used one i would buy it now but if not then i'll just wait and go talk to the people at ship to shore.

I've been looking at the Redfish and they look like really good boats.

I seen they make a 10ft, is there a big difference in the 10 and 12?

I dont think i have ever put this much time into buying something but i guess it pays off in the end.

I like to get it before duck season is over so i can try and hunt out of it, we got lots of marsh that i could get to if i used a kayak.

yall ever try hunting out of one?
