I feel your pain. Between BECI and Westlake gas ours is about 650.00 per month. 7 tons of air into 5 zones. Gas everything that can be. 3524sqft living, built in 2007.

When I build my new house I will use a 16 seer 2 stage Hvac system , foil tyvek instead of regular white (extra r-value 1) , I will silicone my bottom plate to slab instead of the foam pad, tech shield foil backed roof decking, open cell foam insulation in walls and closed cell on rafters . Seal all hvac ducts and boots with mastic. We did this same setup on a house
that was 4200 sqft area and
The owner says the electric bill is under 300 a month in the summer. And this is with gas water heaters not electric

Just paid mine today.
2400 sq ft ranch
A/C runs all the time (wifey likes it cold), 2 fridges, swimming pool pump.
$425 ~ as hot as it's been everyday I didn't think it was too bad for 60's style ranch (low pitch roof).

this is about what mine runs....brothers home is 2800sq ft and his only runs a little over 200.

my old house was only 1000 sq ft and it ran over 300 it had no insulation and no ventilation. put 2 whirly birds and insulated it and it droped to around 120.

Man, I have Entergy here in TX and I consistently run $200/mo for 3000sf with two pool pumps, a 1600sf garage with a couple battery chargers constantly running on cars I store, two hot water heaters, etc. and we've been over 100 every day for what seems like months now. What kwh rate do y'all have over there?

I just choose to not look at the bill, made the mistake of opening it one time, saw it was $500+ and haven't looked since. That was last year. CLECO sucks bad with the fuel surcharges

Might want to have your hvac system checked . I work for a local hvac company and your electric heat strips might be on with the air ,I have this problem before just a little insight.

FALSE ALARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

The reason my dang bill was so high is that my automatic scheduled payment from July did not post. So, my bill is only around 265 this month. About where it should be. My Bad.

Which brings me to my next rant... Paperless billing. I was urged by my fuel cards to go paperless. Well it sounded good to me but when the reminder was emailed to me it went to my spam box and so i never paid my shell card for june. So, on my credit report -- BAM! 30 day late notice. pulled my score down about 50 points!
