Default GARLIC

Anybody know the name of garlic they plant. I used to plant 200 head a year of what was called elephant garlic which was mild . I have'nt planted any in quite a few years and want to plant the smaller more pungent ones. Only problem no one around plants any and I rather order a specific kind than try the store bought ones that probly come from mexico or somewhere that won't do good in southeast La.

Haven't planted any in a few years. I love garlic though. There is a variety that is purple. Can't remember the name but I do want to try growing some if it will do well here. I want it to eat but mainly want to grow it cause it's purple garlic and its aawesome.
For better or worse "it's awesome" seems to be my reason for doing lots of things.lol

Thanks troy...That name sounds familiar.

Duck my father n law used to grow that purple garlic. I haven't seen it since he passed away years ago. I think he used to grow that creole too. I guess i'll have to hit up a few feed stores .
