I found a few different sources of evidence that seem to back up the claims that this product makes. I just ordered one to put on my Minn Kota 101. I'll report back once I receive it and put some hours on the water with it.

This video in particular was very interesting:

$50 isnt bad!?!?! for a nut. thing should be like $15 maybe $25 at the most. with a product like this I would lean towards this becoming a flop because of price range. your selling a nut for $50 essentially. well when people are replacing something that is working fine and has been for years, why would you drop $50 on something like that. if the price was a little lower then theyd sell a ton. but $50 is too steep for alot of people. I could personally certainly afford it but at $50 Im not replacing something thats been working for decades on a notion that I might decrease a little vibration or extend some battery life.

IMO your $50 would be better spent on tackle or towards a new rod and reel. In your case for instance, you bring your kids fishing a lot so if you worried about noise, I'm sure quieting you trolling motor isn't going to make a difference. Most guys I know fish with the radio on and catch fish..

If you fish alone 95% of the time and you are a SERIOUS fisherman and you think this works, get it. But to me there are too many other things making noise to worry about muffling down you trolling motor a little bit.

Just my .02.

I agree with you 100%, and I also agree that it most likely isn't worth $50. for some reason this product sparked my interest and I want to see if it's BS or not.

I like the concept. However, in regards to a MinnKota 101 lb. What happens if you replace the sacrificial anode that is in the place where this fits? Doesn't sound all that good!

If I have to remove the original Minn Kota anode and there is no anode on the Eliminator itself, then I'll be putting it right back into the mail to send it back. It's not worth the chance because my boat is used in saltwater 100% of the time. I'm glad you brought that up because that is definitely something I overlooked before ordering.

I just looked and the manufacturer states that it is "anodized protected". Hopefully that's what us saltwater guys are looking for?

Hmm. I may be sending this one back. I don't want to take a $1,500 chance with a $50 accessory

I think having something anodized as in anodized aluminum protects it from oxidation. which would be the opposite of what you want. but Im no chem engineer so dont take my word for it

I sent an email to the manufacturer about the sacrificial anode. Let you know what they say. I have an idea though. Make the cone shape add on out of the material used for the sacrificial anode then try to sell that for $50!

gotta believe if this thing works as claimed then minn kota and motorguide will be selling their own versions of them as well as equipt on all new motors.

I mean its a no brainer not to do something so easy that makes such a big difference in not scaring away fish right?

I also agree with others this thing is way overpriced and should be $25 or $19.99 even to get everyone to use them. right now I only see tournament fishermen and guys who buy overpriced stuff just for bragging rights and don't care what it costs.

I used to think sound needed to be in contact with the boat in order to transmit well into the water so at times I would hang a portable radio in the air from a rope and play it on low volume (half of talking volume) thinking its not going to be heard under water or if it is it would only be just within a few feet of the boat. obviously from that video it can be heard.
