Default Calcasieu River Camp Rental

Hey all, been a lurker a while. Have a problem and hoping y'all can help.

I'm originally from Sulphur but live in TX now.

Me, a buddy, and our wives and kids are looking to take a trip down for a weekend in April/May and stay on the river to ski a few days. We're hoping to stay at Sam Houston cabins but they are already booked.

If anybody has or knows of any camps, cabins, houses, etc. On the river that people rent it would be super helpful! We won't be doing any partying or anything kids are young and wife is baking another one!

I need to get some of that muddy water and eat some good food!

You might try Loggerhead's. James Mistretta built a bar and grill there about 2 years ago and had plans to construct a whole bunch of cabins. I don't know if they are operational on the cabin rentals yet, but you can call and see. They are right on the Calcasieu river around watermelon bay.

I didn't think about loggerheads. I think they did have some cabins out front when we were there this fall. Thanks.

Well, loggerheads is no go. All of his stuff is rented out long term.

If any of you guys think of any place or have a place and would like to make some $$ let me know.

Its probably gonna be tough to find something with all this economic boom going on around here, seems like everything is rented out long term. They say we will have 20,000 extra workers in town at the peak. Niblett's Bluff park has a few small, one room cabins they rent out on the Sabine river. You might have to settle for something further away from the boom, like at Toledo Bend.

Damn. I didn't think about nibletts on the Sabine. I don't know that river as well or how deep it is.

I think we found a weekend at Sam Houston with two regular cabins available so we will probably try to squeeze into those.

I've been a lot of places and honestly the calcasieu is the best skiing/boarding spot I've ever found.

The very small "Log Cabin" style cabins were painted and a cover put over them some time back.

Pic were taken in 2007.

We ended up finding a weekend in late May with 2 regular cabins available at Sam Houston. It will be tight but we'll make it work for sure.

Hope to get some good skiing and fishing in!
