Default Whats your choice Home Defense

Lets hear it...what is your prefered weapon for home defense.

I would prefer to have a tactical type shotgun, but with a 2 yr old that loves "pow pows" I just don't like having it accesible for safety reasons. Trying to research a solution for that though...so right now its a sig .40 - but was looking at judges or s&w govenor for the benefit of wall penetration due to a child in another room...

I keep a 9mm in my house for protection but do agree on wall penetration, that being said I plan on aiming for the head with my home defense rounds.

I had a 9mm and .40 hanging above the door in the closet. I decided to lock them in the safe cause if someone broke in and found them I would've been out over $1100. I got on lasportsman and found an old 870 for $200. So, I bought that and did some chopping. 5 rounds of 3" 00 should do the trick.

I stopped keeping my 9mm by the bed due to kids also. I have a .357mag out of reach but somewhat accessible. I do worry about wall penetration also, but it is hard to keep a shotgun out of childs reach and still in my reach. I have looked into the bedside pistol safes, but them things cost a fortune.

Shotgun.... Just point & pull, don't need buckshot, heavy load of #4's will knock their azz off at close range.

I agree....

I use a 12 gauge shotgun with some 3 inch #2's...and not near the wall penetration you will have with buckshot....A shot to the torso and they are down for the count....
