One only has to come to Verm Bay... Some crabbers are running 2500 -3000 traps... They rotate them...

The openings in major bayous on the South side of the bay have 100's of trapps just outside the mouths. Many are ghost traps...

Just go to any Rest where they boil crabs... Richards in Abbey !! Try to wrap ur head around $13 for one select jumbo crabs.. They have reg crabs for 29. 99 for half/doz.

Most of our live select crabs are on a plane every afternoon and being sold to the upper Cheaspeake Bay area.. They totally collapsed their crab fishery...

It's actually cheaper for me to go eat half/doz crabs and a couple of beers at a boiling place than to put gas in boat, truck, bait, ice, etc. Then you have to by the fixxing when you go to boil them...

And Yes... The Crab fishery is on the verge of collapse here in LA... But think????? Are we really helping the crabs by closing it in Feb/Mar. There will be a season on crabs in the near future.. Both rec and comm...

They used to have a length restriction on them now they don't and I know a certain crabber from Glencoe and then all those undesirables from the berry that crab at Fearman and Rockafeller keep every crab they catch for gumbo
