Default nautic star 2200 sport

Just wanted to see if any body had any real world #'s on this boat with a Yamaha F150? Just seems like it would be a little underpowered. Thanks

I don't have any real world experience with this boat, but it looks like after you add a fishing load to this boat it would be a little underpowered.

i had the 2110 which is lighter than the boat you are looking at. I had a 200HPDi on it and it was good. I think the 150 is underpowered. I have always been told to max out horsepower on the boat.

I have a 22 XTS with a Yamaha 200. My performance numbers are almost identical to those at Yamaha's website.

that same hull used to be rated for a 250, if you can find the performance bulletins from about 3 years ago, you'd see that. I think they changed it to 150 in order to make you go to the 224xts, which is more expense, to get the 250.

I'm pretty sure it would be underpowered with a 150 though. That performance bulletin shows that was with only 1 battery and 2/3 tank of gas. Once you add ice, tackle, 2-3 more guys, 3 more batteries for 36vt tm, and all the other fishing gear, you'll probably lose 6-7mph.

I rode in some of those and you will not win any races but you can get around fine. In a perfect world you want a 200 hp but the price will be little higher.

if you're looking for a new boat, I think I just saw an extremely nice 214xts here in Nederland tx. I'll try to get a look at it on my way to work today.

The different horsepower rating of the two boats is due to different steering systems. Look at the performance numbers on Yamaha's website and see if you can live with them.

I am in the same boat as you. I bought my boat at a great price, but then quickly realized that I was underpowered. The longer I owned my boat, I then started to see that if I am fishing by my self or with one other person, I can get great fuel consumption and it is actually starting to work in my favor.

I have a 60 gal tanks and can run from Myrtle grove to Grand Isle, fish all day, then run back to MG on roughly an 1/8 tank of fuel or less... Yes, I can do this trip 4 times comfortably before fueling up.

I have noticed a lot of the boat companies are starting to put smaller outboards on there boats because of fuel prices. It is not a bad thing... as long as you do not care about speed. the 2200 Bay built by Tidewater comes regularly with a Yam or Merc 150. I think in the near future this will be a regular site to see on the water.

300-350hp or bust. Gas is cheap use as much as you can.

Thanks for all the input. Wife said I could upgrade boats so I have been researching for the past cpl of months. I like the nauticstar 2200 but also looking at a skeeter sx210 and a frontier 2104. The boat will mainly be used in big lake with the occasional trip to the rocks and short rigs on calm days. I've heard good things about the above mentioned boats now to just decided which one will work the best

The width of a 22 comes in handy on bumpy days when compared to a 21. I have an 07 nauticstar 2110 with 200 optimax. I never long for more power but she isnt propped for speed either. I will say after owning my 21 i wouldnt get less then a 22 now. Just more stable and more room to walk around.

This...I fished out of a 21 a few weeks back and it feels like a john boat compared to my boat that has more width. Personally there is no good reason to anything smaller than a 24 other than price. If I could not afford a 24 new, I would be shopping for a used one.
