Default around Lake Barataria

Last two days fishing with my son-n-law and catching some nice trout and reds.

Nothing better than some freshly caught trout frying up :-)

I will load pics of our catch after we eat :-)

Thanks for the report! I rode all around trying to find clean water last week but I never found any. It must be starting to clean up a little. I'll be in lafitte Sunday but possibly Saturday too.

I am heading out again tomorrow with the family. Our target will be redfish, my daughter and wife love the fight they give.

The pictures I promised did not come out at all sorry hopefully will get some good ones tomorrow. Going to start in Lake Laurier.

It was a very slow day. Caught a few reds and one drum. The tides were just not working with us today.

We stayed in Lake Laurier, and I new I should have moved but could not get myself to move from where I have been catching some good fish.

Will be starting out Saturday around the islands of Barataria near the Wilkinson Canal mouth or heading to Port Sulpher as I have been getting some good reports.

Anyone else heading out then?

I want to make it down there soon. My uncles are always telling me that the Grand Isle and surounding area's produce some great fishing. I have always either fished Delacroix or Lake Barateria.

I guess it is time for me to venture out to other areas.

Good luck as I see winds are also suppose to be picking up starting tomorrow about 1200 and steadily increasing through Sunday.

Gnats!!! They were everywhere this morning!! Took home 3 reds and 2 trout. I did manage to catch a 30" red and a 29.5" red. Every red I caught today was huge.

I was on the east side. Bay round and Laurier.

You did better than me... I caught two small trout between 0600 and 1230. THEN... 1230 hit and the reds started biting. Caught three within 30 minutes and 20 of those minutes were fighting the two largest ones.

Oh yea caught my first gaff top on a popping cork.

We fished south Barataria sat morning till the wind started picking up around 11. Managed 15 keeper trout with about a 3-1 keeper ratio on a variety of plastics. Fished the side of Highway 1 this morning for a couple hours with no luck at all.

That's what I like to hear. I'll be in grand isle for the memorial day weekend, so I'm hoping some trout will make an appearance on the boat..
