I just bought a Taurus Judge last weekend at the gun show. I haven't shot it. Got some Federal 410 personal defense #4 buckshot for it.

it says the projectiles travel less than 10 inches into ballistic gel, which is on par with a hot .380 auto

may give more of a shock i guess, but if your shooting through a thick coat into a big man i'll stay with my .357

I've put a couple rounds of winchester ranger 40cal. in two crippled deer still gittinit good, and that **** is deadly. One round in the back of a does head, and 2 rounds in a bucks chest head on, and both rolled up stone cold DEAD! Not my shootin that crippled the critters, but mine that ended it for them! Any man who knows what it takes to down an adrenaline pumped strong willed to survive animal, I would think would agree that the ranger ammo is plenty sufficiant to bring a grown man to his knees. Animals dont feel pain like we do. Just my experiance with it,I'll use it as long as I can find it, but its becoming far and few to come by. Their was a time that Cabelas had a 50rn.d box for 14.99. Those were the days.

Default Winchester Ranger

If you want plinking ammo I recommend Winchester "White Box" available at Walmart, per box the cheapest. Or get in with friends to buy bulk in loose or boxed ammo. I just purchased 20 boxes of 9mm for $215 with shipping. I do the same for 5.56mm/.223 but buy 10-20,000 in bulk in ammo cans. For defense, there are several, e.g., Speer Gold Dot, Hornady TAP, etc. I prefer Winchester Ranger RA9T 147gr. or RA45T 230gr. (not SXT (2nd gen.). Althoug it's marked for LE only, bit of BS, I get all I want.
