I got a couple of shimano symetres had no problems with them and all I fish is salt I think they are around $100. I personally like the 4000 series but some people prefer the 2500

Not trying to hijack here, but we have overwhelming support for shimano....My addendum question here is what fishing line to use for spec red combo...? I have 30lb powerpro which is strong....however doing a quick bait change or re-tying is a beyotch....Wont cut with my side cutters on my needle nose, usually have to stop and get out the fingernail clippers...Do I change line or just get a better tool to cut the line? Just wondering what you guys do...

shimano for sure.. stradic is in your range and is a smooth reel.

i got a pair of the Lew's anodized aluminum pliers with the side cutters for $30. the cutters are tungsten and they cut braid awesome with one snip! and if the cutters eventually happen to wear out, they are replacable as are the jaws of the pliers! got em 6 months ago, shot it with corrosion-x and havent seen a speck of rust. check em out here: http://www.sportsmansfactoryoutlet.c...Fishing/Detail |

i use okuma and 30 lb PP. carry a small pair of scissors cuts PP like butter.
Polmar knot is quick and easy to tie. I have a 4" long pair of scissors that fit in my back pocket along w/ a 8" section of broom handle in case i get snagged. |

Braid is the way to go for spinners.....holds more line and no aggravating line twist to deal with.

I just bought a Penn 260 Slammer. It is the best spinner I've ever had. (Not that I've had many) $100 on amazon.com
