Default Lowrance Hook Units

Looking for information on the Lowrance Hook GPS/DI units. Recently bought a 21' Triton bass rig in need of new electronics, only plan on using 3-4 times a year for tournament fishing. Looking at the Hook 7 for the front deck and a Hook 9 for the console. Thanks for any input on these models.

Obviously I've missed something, anyway a thumbs up or down would be appreciated.

The hook is not touch and is far under powered compared to the HDS units(processor power). ..... IF you would like the most bang for your buck... look into the Elite TI units... Lowrance just made the 9 and the 12 inch available. I have the 7 and will soon be getting the 9.... This, in my mind, would be the best bet for you... You might even be able to find a TI7 used for a little less money......

I have a 3 year old Lowrance Elite 7 HDI. Not the same unit, but it does what it's supposed to, good in the shallows, on rare occasion has lost it's way at high speed (5 or 6 times in 3 years). I fish the Lake Pontchartrain area.
