So what would you say the quickest time from the house (Lafayette) to the pass is if you left out of each of the three mentioned launches? I've never been out of Boston, but I think it would be the closest to Lafayette, right?

Depends where you live. If you live close to hwy90 then the Point is the fastest. If you live on the mall side of Lafayette then Intracoastal is faster. Driving thru the middle of Lafayette is a Biatch and add lots of time. |

I live off of point de mouton. So I would just head straight down the thruway the point. Then cross the bay to get to the pass.
Ive decided that i won't be doing that anymore. Depend on which I side fish will determine what launch to use From now on. |

put your address in google maps and figure which ramp would be closest, like red said above it depends on what part of lafayette you live in, traffic and stuff, i live on the south side of youngsville and taking the back way to icc sure seemed longer than going to the point |

Going to the point is just a straight road down 49 to Darnell road to the point. I have to cross the bay to get to the pass. driving to I.City I have to drive through lafayette through Abbeville then on to I.C I'm on the west side so I feel closer This is all psychological! it's all in your head If you think about. When you going shopping you see Some people park right next to the store/building but they are a ways away from the door. They feel closer but actually there walking further to get to the door OK I'm almost off come on 6pm. Im still bored. Lol |

So this raises the question....would you rather drive further in the truck to reduce the boat ride, or drive the shorter distance in the truck but have a longer boat ride.

I would think on a west or south wind the ride from ICY would be a lot better to the Pass. I personally have never launched at ICY but it's on my to do list. I would like to fish Redfish Point and go check out the weirs around Fearman Lake.

I rather drive shorter and londer boat ride For big lake bc. I have options N to South end to locate clean water etc. I dont like driving all the way to Hebert from lafayette.
Vermillion bay. It's just about the same distance to the point or I.C. driving and boat ride. Just have to decide which side you want to be on for vbay fishing. |
