Default Big Lake 10/21

Decided to make the run to big lake this morning.

Initially, I was amazed at the lack of people at calcasieu pt. landing.

I was even more amazed when I rounded the bend to turners and barely saw any other boats. I was certain it would be a parking lot.

Piddled around turners a bit. Picked up 2-3 specs and a few white trout on live shrimp / opening night plastics.

Headed down to texaco cut and found the water to be less than desirable (6" or so vis), so headed east across the lake looking for birds.

Birds weren't very active, but we did manage to pull in another 6-8 trout and a decent red.

Heading back to the ramp, decided to run to the end of LNG. Picked up a 26" red and few more trout.

Morning catch was primarily on opening night cocahoes / live shrimp. Towards the afternoon, it was silver spoons.

Was really expecting to see a circus on the water, but only *saw* maybe 10-15 other boats, and only got close enough to see the people on 5-6 of em. Go figure.

Final count ended up being 9 specks, 17 whites, and 2 reds in the box. Biggest speck was 16. Biggest red was 26. Whites were in the 11 - 16" range.
