There seems to be quite a few guys going out of Cameron now. Just wondering how many boats and members we could get together to run out for a full day of fishing. Maybe we could put 10 bucks in for biggest and maybe 10 bucks in for ugliest fish. My boat is ready for a run with medium and heavy gear on board. I'm thinking the last weekend of July? Got your gas tank repaired Tim?

Cool, sounds like we have some interest. There was talk on another thread awhile back about a meet and greet on Johnson Bayou Beach. Is that still happening with all the "W"hoopla going on, If the road is good to the beach I might bring the tent, set it up and stay there for the weekend. Adam, you think you will bring your boat if the weather is right or are you leaving it at home. I will let the thread run a few days so we can see what type of boats and open spaces will be available. I might be able to go Friday and Saturday depending on the weather.

LOOKS LIKE WE'RE planning for the 24th. Ray is the cameron festival that weekend??? We'll need to find a launch to meet at and go out from. I would rather find one close to the jetties, maybe at the ferry or from the jetties launch. What's the best for that weekend. Come meet us if you can Duckco. Be glad to have you out there running with us.

I hope we can get enough boats together and that the weather cooperates that we can find room for everyone. Not sure what space I have right now left in my ride but lets give this a few more days to develope and then we'll see what rigs we have going out. If we bottom fish I might be able to add a couple of more people to the boat. I can carry 6 if seas are cooperative and we bottom fish. If the currents are strong we may have to fish in shifts while others are napping or popping can tops. lol I have trolling gear but I am open to jigging. I mainly want a meat haul. I wants sum feesh in da ice box. That will probley be my last weekend this year, got several work travels come up. I might also go out Friday also if there are any other boats wanting to buddy up with us. All of this depends on the weather and sea conditions. The answer to the beach bash thing is, if we load the ice chest up early, I was thinking I might just go to the beach and anchor the boat a hundred yards out or so after fishing. Lots of maybe's due to the seas. I think if we go out early, we'll be ready to come back in around 2-3 pm. The Bash should be getting warmed up about that time.

When does snapper season end? I just had a baby but think I can talk my way into getting one more crack at snapper. Would probably have room for 2.

OK, right now we have possibly 6 boats, my boat, long cast , Purple Back, Adam, Duckco, and maybe Marlin50lrs. There are a few guys without boats that would like to go and will help with expenses. I already have two and can take up to 3 more, but 2 more would be better. Also, who is planning for Friday, Saturday or both. I am planning for both days.

Snapper season closes July 23 at midnight. Don't know why they did this on a Friday Night. You would think they would close it on a Sunday night for the weekend warrior guys, like me. Now I gotta go on the 23rd. to get some snapper.

Not so fast dinkster, Looking at the map it shows from the coast out to about 25 miles. So as it stands now, If we go past this mark, we should be ok. I am planning around 40-50 miles out, maybe a little more. We will have to watch for changes, but hopefully the cap will work and the waters will be cleared to fish.
That is correct. I heard it was closed to 20 miles out.

Right Ray, I got the coords from the thread you left the link on. It's about 20 miles out of Calcasieu pass south then your in open water. It does angle SE so I printed the map with the coord's so I can make sure I try to stay legal.

The meet and greet is this weekend, and several people are going out, weather permitting, to look for some gulf fish. Looking to see who's boats are going and who's fishing.
My boat will have four fishing Friday and five fishing Saturday. Yak'em, Longcast, my brother and me Friday. Saturday's list is Yak'em, his brother, Longside Landry, brother and me. Friday Cabwiz and another boat will be going out of Freshwater City and I will be Launching out of Cameron at the Holly Beach side of the ferry. Hope to see and meet some of you guy's there. If some of you guy's have room in your boat and are looking for some help in expences, there are several people that would love the chance to experience offshore fishing. There should be several boats Saturday so if you have a boat and would like to follow someone out, this would be a good time to buddy up and make the trip.
