I'm down in Grand Isle right now and I have heard the close in rigs by Fourchon hold some mangroves. I have some heavy poles that I use for Bull Reds in the pass but I have no Idea how to fish for mangroves. Any help would be appreciated.

What u need is smaller circle hooks nothin too big..2-8 oz. sinkers depending on current...and a box of pogeys from a marina..or squid works really good also...if u are catching mangroves at these rigs..then they have red snapper there too trust me...for red snapper let it go all the way to the bottom..then crank about 6 cranks of the reel and let it sit...for mangroves only drop to about half the depth of the water up to 20 foot ..mangroves,lane snapper, vermillion muttons dont go as deep as the red snapper due to competition with the reds..try it out youll prolly be happy.

Mangroves HATE live croakers fished close to the rig legs!
