Ruger is probably better than the new remingtons and easily worth 200+ dollars. I do like the old remington nylon 66. I've had a 10/22 for nearly 20 years, it has a very high round count and has been a great gun. The only thing I don't care for is the rotary mag design, but there are so many aftermarket parts it's no big deal.

The israeli's used them for crowd control some time ago, check this out

Browning semi auto 22 is also a sweet gun. Good luck.

I'm a Browning fan through and through, but when it comes to a .22 LR
the Ruger 10/22 is by far the best on the market. I've been having one for 20 years and no problems. Bought one for my son last year and that thing
is very accurate. One issue is its a short gun if you have long arms, you
have to see if it feels right for you.

I have a 10/22.....there are so many aftermarket parts your head will spin!! You can make it full auto easily. If you get 2 they make a setup where you can make a gattlin gun.....pretty cool!! You can buy clip ranging from 10 to I think 250 rounds......have fun!!

Another vote for the 10/22. .22 rim fire is my favorite caliber and I have 20+ .22's for a all around shooter a 10/22 is hard to beat.

i have a ruger 10/22.... no complaints from me except the factory mag pretty much sucks. I bought a bannana clip for mine. I also have a synthetic folding stock that i bought aftermarket. sweet gun though!!

You should have bought the REM 552 Speedmaster Fool had forsale last year for $100.00. It was a very good buy at that price and in good shape.;)

^^^^ I agree!!!

I got an old nylon 66 just like the one pictured above, it prob has well over 5,000 rounds through it and still shoots pretty good.

As far as a good .22cal it depends on what you want to spend, I have a ruger 10/22, its a great gun but cost $250, but it also has more aftermarket accessories than any other gun on the market. So you can pretty much make it what you want.

I also bought a remington 597 rifle scope combo about 3 years ago for $150 from academy and after a little tweaking and a few hundred rounds its an ACCURATE little gun. It has replaced my nylon as my plinking / rabbit / squirrel/ gun

10/22 had one most accurate .22/ the marlin with the tubular magazine, shoots fast and is faster to reload if you don't have extra mags its also accurate and cheaper. but the 10/22 is worth the money.
