Best offshore baits

A buddy of mine just got a new boat... we looking to go out of freshwater city a few miles,we uasually try to cast net for finger mullet but sometimes we don't catch alot..... We are new to this type of fishing so any advice could help. We do redfish an trout fishing so we have alot of plastic...... Thanks

If u wanna catch snapper or aj get some shimmano squid jigs...awsome baits...the skirts fall off and get torn up relatively fast but they sell replacements for cheap...but by far the best artificial bait for snapper

Sabiki rig=hardtail; or frozen menhaden
Artificial for snapper=diamond jig tip with anything, or a big feather jig tipped

If you're after trout, plastics is all you need. Just have to do some running to find the fish.

Bull minnows and such would work better out there rather than sandeels and shrimp style baits i suppose? Any particular colors?

Sabiki rig=hardtail; or frozen menhaden
Artificial for snapper=diamond jig tip with anything, or a big feather jig tipped

They love queen cocahoes too.

Thanks guys for all the help!! We plan on going out about anywhere from 20 to 30 miles out all we have is a 45 gallon tank an we fishing out of a 21 foot cajuin so we gotta becareful where we go....

During shrimp season, pull up behind a shrimp boat and ask for a bucket full of culled bait.
They will give you all the pogy, mackeral, squid, mullet and croaker they got. They are throwing them overboard anyway.
