Playing a little catch-up from the past 7 days! My customers and I really enjoyed a 'redfish bonanza' last week catching in excess of 225 redfish for the week along with a few trout. Catching the reds in Lost Lake, Mechant and Sister Lake has not been a problem as they can be found just about anywhere including the shorelines of the lakes,duckponds,and most inland bayous like Bayou Seveur,Bayou Decade & Bayou Racourcci. Gold spoons, spinner baits, and LSU & Cajun Pepper Bayou Chubs work great on the schooling reds while live minnows or cracked crab has been doing the damage in the deep holes. Trout on the inside waters are showing up but most are still undersize for the mostpart. The trout under the birds have been 10-11 in. with some mixed ladyfish and banana fish. If you're looking for the larger trout try fishing the reefs and some of the deeper bayous north of Lake Mechant. The shrimp are starting to show up and the trout are starting to relate to their movement. We're still 2-3 weeks away from our best inside trout fishing to start but its slowly getting better each week. Reds have been the mainstay and we'll continue catching them while waiting on the trout fishing to inprove. Good luck fishing.
