I have been yak fishing for about 6 months and was wondering, what are the advantages/disadvantages of rigging an anchor trolley? I've always just dropped anchor and tied it off to an eye on my Ride 135...

I'm new to yakin and love it. To me an anchor trolley is a must. Helps you adjust for wind, current, etc.

I think I get what y'all are saying. Makes sense, might have to rig one up

I added a rope cleat to my yak $2 vs $25, my disadvantage is I can't change anchor points to position right for wind and water current.

That's my disadvantage too I guess. I never really thought about it before, but that could really help at the beach with the current, wind etc.

Trolly used to be the first thing i would install on a new yak. I got away from the store bought anchor trolley and marsh anchor. I use weights and harken cleats on bow and/or stern. We call this the choupique anchor. Harken cleats are about $20 but well worth it. They are spring loaded for one hand operation.
