View Full Version : Painting atv racks
I was thinking of using that truck bed liner stuff out of a can and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with it or if y'all know anything better than spray paint. Thanks

Seems like it would work, make sure you get a wire brush and scuff it up really good before you paint it.

i used it for the bed of my utv and was really happy with it, its not textured like a professional rhino liner or similar, but it was just what i wanted for that, prolly need a few coats

i built a gun rack and used it on bare metal for 4 wheeler...worked great as well...i'm sure quality is dependant upon how much prep work is performed prior to coating.

I would take the racks off and buff with a wire wheel on a grinder then give a few good coats. Not sure what kind of bike your running but its good to get the racks extended a little bit if you carry passengers. Just more room for then to sit. Any welding shop can do
yeah, im waiting on you dad to send me some pics of how he did his because i will be riding a couple of people on the back. thanks for the info everybody i think i'll give that stuff in the can a shot.

I used it on a truck tool box and it chipped after a couple of months. I just touch it up now and then. Make sure you rough it up good first.

i used it on on my ATV racks. It doesn't perform like I thought it would. Its not much more durable than paint. I put numerous coats on it, but it flakes off pretty easy. I sanded the frame down with a wire brush and primed it prior to spraying it. The can stuff is just not as durable or thick as the true bedliner spray. If I had to do it over, i would take them to get sandblasted and have them sprayed by a shop. Just my opinion.
i bedline at my work in sulphur and weve done atv racks and it holds up very well
