Here are two stocks that are doing well since I got in them last week

NOG - Buy in @ 13.29 As of today 13.87

TPLM-Buy in @ 5.30 As of today 6.03

How long you typically have to sit on these short term investments before you flip em?

Depends on how much it moves.... bought ALU for 1.33 and its at 1.90 so i sold today..

But if i can make 15-25% and i dont feel i can get much more i sell

Some i hold a month or two and some only days...its like fishing just have to read and read and read about a stock and look at volume and trends

SLB (Schlumerger) jumped 5.43% to $82.75/share today following better than expected second quarter numbers being released.
I bought in at $65/share.

I cant decide to sale now before something screws the whole stock market up or hold and see how the rest of the year plays out.

I know SLB kicker BHC (Baker Hughes) arse this quarter and everything I have read says the the second half of the year is projected to be better than first.
I know that there is a steady stream of deepwater rigs moving back in to the GOM.

The way I see it is SLB offers high tech premium tools and services at a premium price.

This is why their tools and services are more popular in deep water and other applications with high rig costs.
Maybe this is why the decrease in land rigs in NAM has not hurt SLB as much as other service companies? Just a thought...


Any thoughts or opinions? I dont follow the stock market very closely so I may be looking at it completely wrong.
Maybe one of you guys who know tje market can syraighten me out.

I do about 75% on my own by reading and researching stocks from a few paid sites

I also work around guys who play the market so we share info

And I have a stock broker too but he is not a real gambler so he mainly recommends stocks with higher paying dividends....

a lot of people do not like Jim Cramer "MAD MONEY" but I get his paid news and I also watch his show

He was the one who made me buy SD and EOG and I made about 20% with in a month on both of these stocks

Also my lastest Cramer stock was TPLM

W, I bought TPLM at 5.50, sold it at 7.50, then bought it again at 6.50. I wish I would have bought more (as usual). I think this little company is as strong a candidate for a takeover as any I've seen. You just convinced me to subscribe to Action Alerts Plus. I just did some research on an investor that does short term trades on the Cramer recommendations received in the newsletter, then sells them shortly the stock is reviewed by Jim Cramer on his TV show Mad Money. He says that you can count on a 10 -20% pop within a short time after being reviewed on the show. ( You are basically selling to his TV audience) He states that if you make 10%,and compound the profits on each, in just 8 trades you have more than doubled you money 1.1x1.1 (done 8 times) = 2.14 Example: $1000 x 1.1 =$1,100 $1,100 x1.1 =$ 1,210 repeat 8 times and you get $2,143.59 Subtract $128 in trading fees, and you get $2,015.60. Bottom line, you just doubled your money on 8 trades.
