You do know Sherburne was closed this weekend to eveyone but youth and handicapped hunters right. Unless you fall into one of the above categories you were not suppose to be in there.

Sorry Bruce not trying to start anything but you really ought to check the regulation pamphlet before going out there. You are lucky you didn't get caught. Did you see alot of hunters. I have a handicapped permit and I started to go but I chose to work instead.

i thought the area closed thing meant for hunting, i only saw one set of youth hunters and several people scouting. talked to a buddy that hunts it all the time and he told me he was going scouting saturday also...

i dont have much love for our LDWF, but the ones at sherburne are the nicest i have met in LA so far

sorry

Just make sure ya have your WMA use permit anytime you go onto any WMA. My Brother forgot his when he went scouting and it cost him $125 + court cost. and a day off of work as you have to go to court. Bet he doesn't forget trhat $5 permit again.

Closed.....Yes.......closed to scouting????

Here is what the hunting regulations say:

Youth Hunts.....Deer

Only youths 17 or younger may hunt. All other seasons are closed EXCEPT physically challenged seasons.

I am not sure how to interput the word "seasons".......scouting is NOT a season......IMO. I would not knowly disturb anyone on a youth hunt.

Years back.....I when to Sherburne to make a bow hunt. Just after I parked on the side of the road, another person also stopped there. This person took a gun out of his truck.....then I knew something was not right!!!

I asked him, and found out it was the day for "Handicap" hunt. I got home as the sun was coming up.

Mistakes happen I once had a game warden try to write me a ticket for duck hunting during bucks ony season for deer in Thistlewaite WMA. I finally convinced him to let me show him in the hunting pamphlet where it said duck hunting is permitted during bucks only season. Hey Gerald I am going scouting probably this friday afternoon are the woods full of mosqitos?

At Clear Creek.......If you are down in a creek bottom there will be a fair amount of mosquitoes. Also on the hill sides in the pine trees, normally there are none........but now there will be a few mosquitoes.

There was lots of rain last week......so it will take a while for the water to dry up and the creeks to go back to normal.
