I just signed up for the Star and the Trout shootout. I've never caught a trout over 6 pounds and I feel like i've just wasted my money. Oh well, I guess its for a good cause.

What if you hadn't entered and caught a tagged red or a huge trout? Could you live with yourself? :*****:

What does it cost over there? It's $40 here in TX for the STAR

thing about it is that you never know when that one big fish will come, all it takes is a bait in the water. for the shootout there are so many boats on the water that a lot of the "honey holes" get ruined within the first hour.

It is only $25 here for the shootout and $25 for the star. I did have a kid place 6th on my boat a few years ago. It was his first trout ever-2.86 dead. I don't think i've ever seen that kid as excited as when that fish hit the deck. That is what its about for me now and I'll have a 10 year old with me this year.

A couple pictures from past star tourneys. One is my daughter. Didn't take her on the lake with the sea state last year but she caught 3 reds and the guys got her fired up at the weigh in by taking her on stage and letting her weigh her fish. The other is from a few years ago. My buddies kid who caught a nice trout.

Rumor from way down in the southeast has it that a tagged redfish was caught by a fisherman who is registered in this years star rodeo.
ONLY PROBLEM WAS IT WAS CAUGHT THE DAY B4 THE STAR TOURNEY STARTED.

A story about the trout shoot out. One year, I think it was 04, I was fishing the tourny with not much luck. In fact, I hadn't had a bite all morning. I was throwing topwater looking for a big fish. Finally I got bit. One bite all day long. I landed a fish that was something like 7.9 lbs and by keeping it alive it my fish was over 8. I tied for first place that day. Had to take second though as I lost the tie breaker. So you just never know. One nibble was all I needed.
