Y'all young fellers don't have a clue.
You gotta remember us old farts grew up catching trout when there were no limits. Measure a trip by how many chest of fillets we brought home.
Not saying it was right but it was what we knew.
More fish have been caught on the old shad rigs and mr champ spoons than on sparkle beetles and plastic cacahoes combined.
JMHO.

I remember the ole' spec rigs and Mr. Champ spoons also....We had a 14 x32 alumaweld with a 25 Evinrude...those were simple days when people saved their money.....My haven't things changed...

I would say H&H chartruese Cocohoe or Sand Eels. But
I am going to try a couple new lures this spring.
Flounder love them old time speck rigs too.
Drag them slowly across the bottom in running water.

Chartreuse sparkle beetle with the red dot....:)

yep, back when i started speck fishing in about 87 we only had two choices in lures, a "grub" or a spoon.

grub meaning either sparkle beetle or salty grub by H & H, or you had the little bucktail speck rigs

Opening nite curl tail. Great bait n the marsh on the east side.
Avacado sparkle beetle - pop corn size ,the real small one. That's my go to round dulac & dularge. Sometimes I like the tsunami holographic swim baits. But it's gotta b a warmer day.

Sand eels all year long on big lake!!!!

When i want something different besides trout to eat .I take a shad rig and cut the tails off right behind the hook and tip it w/ a little piece of swimp. wade out in the G.I. surf around thigh deep and catch me a few pompano.:grinpimp:
