I'm in the market for a spin cast reel. It will be primarily used for fishing specs and reds in the SURF, so I need one that will hold up well against saltwater. Do y'all have any recommendations??? Thanks.

 Tried that, but it doesn't hold up well against the saltwater.

okuma inspira 40 or penn AF4000.

I use both in the surf several times a year and they both spin like the day I bought them. Would like to try some shimano's cuz I've heard good things but when you have something tried and true by your own hands its hard to spend money on something different. I love penn but tried the okuma due to a sale and good warranty. No regrets they seem to be just as good as the penn only a better warranty so when the penn wheres out Im going to have a dilemma on my hands

I have an Okuma Epixor 30 series. I've had it almost 4 years and have used it in the surf on many occasions. It's a little cheaper than the Inspira. My brother has an Epixor 40 series that has done just as well with and several buddies have the Inspira that have done well for them also. They've all taken some waves and been totally submerged a few times. A little rinse w/ freshwater and a spritz of oil and they're ready to go again. My Epixor is my go to Spinning reel when I'm surf fishing.
Shimanos are good also as I used them with success before I bought my Okuma, but they have raised their prices in the past few years so I switched.

i worked for academy and was told by a shimano rep that the symetre is shimano's saltwater spining reel (aside from the baitrunners). I just got a new symetre 4000 and love it.

Any shimano reel with ARB bearings should do the trick if you take care of it. or Daiwa reel with CRBBs...
