From CCA:

CCA Louisiana requests volunteers to please stand-by

Thanks to all CCA members who have called us to volunteer your services regarding the oil spill. CCA Louisiana has been in constant contact with state and federal officials regarding the oil spill. We have volunteered our services to the Governor's Office, the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, NOAA, BP and others and they have assured me they will call on us as soon as they develop a strategy for volunteers.

As of early afternoon Friday, state and federal officials were assessing the situation and have not told us where volunteers can be effectively deployed. If you are interested in volunteering, please stand by until we get more direction with those charged with responding to the oil spill. We will send out another alert when we are contacted by the responding authorities.

David Cresson

From BP:

For people who would like to help with clean up of the oil spill, British Petroleum’s Houston office has just activated a volunteer hot line. There’s work for anyone who wants to pitch in. If you have technical expertise, are in the construction business and have supplies, if you have a boat, if you are willing to prepare and serve food, rescue and clean wildlife, or man phone lines, call 512 442-5559. An operator will take your name and phone number and pass the information on to people in field offices in Louisiana. You will then be sent to where the need is greatest.
To view updated information on the spill response staging area, BP has an oil spill incidence response Web site (http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/site/2931/). For more information on technical issues, call the Deep Water Horizon Information Center at 985 902-5231, to report wildlife fouled with oil, call the Wildlife Reports line at 866 557-1401, and for community response information, call 866 448-5816.
