I don't see an end in sight. This same feeder band has been hammerin' on us since about 8:00. It has not moved west at all. I have never seen it rain this hard for this long. These tornado watches are makin' me nervous...just one after another. My daughter wants to "go somewhere!!!" I told her to come look at the radar and tell me where she'd like to go. Transformers have been poppin' for a hour, but, amazingly....we haven't lost power yet.

Been watching that!!!! Figured we'd get it with its westward movement as they say, doesn't seem to be be moving!!!! Been out checking on everything & water, seems to have layed down some???? Slight south wind now. ????

We have a steady rain. Wind is not so bad right now. Just worried about the tornados now. There is 2 bands to the east of us and that's where they say you have to worry about the tornados and they are moving west. Hope everything is ok salty.

Where are you in Slidell? I have a condo at sandpiper cove on hwy 11.

Salty 08-30-2012 01:28 AM

Jeff & Justin, if the center would move west just a little bit...y'all would be in the wet stuff. The 1:00 am advisory said it's movin' NW @ 5 mph w/max winds @ 50. I just wish it'd move enough west so we could get out from under this feeder band. It hasn't been as bad the past 30-45 minutes as it's been since 10:00 or so. Just went out and checked my gauge. Looks like we're up to around 11-12"....best I can tell. I don't know how accurate that is since it was rainin' sideways for a couple hours. ;) Bay St. Louis has been under the same feeder as us and they're over 20". I don't know how long that covers, tho.

If you guys want rain...I hope you get it. Wishin' y'all well either way.

We're stuck under the one fartherest west. Probably gonna get the other one, too...if we ever get out from this one.

wtretrievers 08-30-2012 01:45 AM

They said earlier the rain gauges weren't worth a flip cause the rain was coming in sideways & weren't accurate at all. So if you got 12" it's probably closer to 20".

With the water we got here I bet my paycheck it'll be more than 3' above flood stage!!! It's still raining & still coming up!
