how many acres for $2,800 |
Duck hunting is not cheap. I was able to pick up a new lease a little South of where I have been hunting in Kaplan. Price went from 4K to 5K. We split it three ways and it is a rice field blind. Park your truck and walk 1/4 of a mile and you are in the pit blind. In general, you will kill more ducks in a good marsh lease but you will need a mud boat or a surface drive in most situations. On a positive note, the lease price per acre or section is a lot less but hard to get into the lease. To get into a lease in Pecan Island thru Vermillion Corp, for the most part you have to sub lease from someone. I know the last 2 sections to came open were bid thru an auction and went for 3 to 4 times the going price.

exactly....Little burns behind my house, one FRIGGIN guy, has 500 acres leased out, in my BACKYARD. He hunts one blind, maybe 10 times a season. like, DUDE let me lease 150 acres and i'd be cool with it!! Heck even 10 acres to put a blind and i'd be happy |

You don't have to spend big $$ but it sure helps some years. Partner in our lease also has 400 acres in PI he is shelling out $25,000 for and started hunting with us on our $3,200 lease because there were not enough birds in PI. We did not start killing until the second split but we did pretty good for what we had to hunt on.:smokin:
Big problem with people is they will try to "Snake" you on your lease if they can, not everyone but some. Invitations to hunt on our property are few and far between if you are not in the "LOOP" for this reason. |
I got in the lease we have 950 acers and it will be 1500 per person with 10 people in it. They have 5 pit blinds and you can make a brush blind as long as it is 250 yards from another blind. If for some reason they dont have the ducks I can always go back to hunting public land where they always kill
