Don't lie, Yak.

Cell phone have not been available for that many years.....less than 20???

Everyone did just fine without them......and still could. It is called......better planning, that would solve much of the "need" to have a cell phone.

I guess I am one of the very few that does not "feel the need" to have a cell phone.

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-28-2010 08:42 PM

i should rephrase

i could live without mine of course

but given the option i would prefer to have it

It wasn't.

If you're referring to electricity.....yes, I did without it for a month after Katrina.

"*" is a friggin' idiot....but then, you know that.

The reason I started this thread is because of an incident I witnessed yesterday. I was driving in town behind this car that was swerving all over the street. When stopped at a redlight, I could see that it was a woman that was (obviously) texting. Just ahead of the light is a bridge. When the light turned green, she took off. While on the bridge, she crossed over the center line and almost hit an SUV head-on. She was able to get the car under control...thankfully. I saw emergency lights ahead. It was a Sheriff's car stopped on the bridge. When the car ahead of me passed the officer's car.....I stopped to let him get behind her. When they exited the bridge, she pulled over and he parked behind her. I passed on by but was wondering if she'd be cited. I found out from my neighbor (she works for the department) this morning that the woman was given a ticket for "failure to maintain control". This biotch was travelling fast enough to seriously injure or even kill someone. Had she hit that SUV.....it wouldn't have been a pretty site. I wish friggin' cell phones never existed.

I drive the causeway 3-5 times a week. You see more people doing the wierdest crap. Nothing like getting a cup of Joe and enjoying the ride. These idiots put on makeup, READ the newspaper (no joke),text and who knows what else.

I saw a dood trying to put on a hooded sweatshirt one time. Try that while driving in traffic.

youmyboyblue 07-28-2010 09:58 PM

about 3 weeks ago there was guy (passenger at least) hangin out the sunroof of a car on the causeway going 65MPH puking. I was the next car behind them. I damn near went nuts.

I would ditch mine, but it helps having a phone # for employment reasons, I hate texting but sooo many people text me instead of call so I buy 200 text so I only pay $5 more rather than $30 more for unwanted text. if they had a phone with no minutes just pay $20 a month for unlimited text, I'd buy it! I might use my phone for 50 minutes a month personal use everybody text rather than talk, its whatever!

I don't have a problem with people texting. My daughter averages 20,000 texts per month. However, talking on a cell while driving is distracting enough....texting or posting on SaltyCajun while driving is downright dangerous.
