Have never seen a croaker that big that's really nice fish...my friend's grandpa and used to catch some around 5 lbs offshore. Another friend's dad used to catch some big ones too offshore all the time

Caught some real nice ones last weekend, but nothing like that. that's a monster. I caught 8 of them around 15-17 inches.

That pic was from the Chesapeake Bay area in Virginia if I recall.
I've caught some big ones about 12 -13 inches in the surf the last couple times I've gone to Galveston along w/ some hoss channel mullet/whiting up to 20 inches. They all looked like small reds at first. All of em are great eating.

I agree. Always happy to put croaker in the box. And if they're too small to fillet, then they're about right for bait.
