Do they taste any different whether you catch them on artis or on live bait? Last time I checked, they taste the same no matter what you use to catch them.

IMO a fish caught on live bait is NOT a trophy! trophies are givin to people who compete is SPORTING events!! Soaking a natural bait is in no shape or form sportfishing

Ray 08-14-2010 04:06 PM

They never said they was sport fishing. They said they was meat fishing.

i believe the question was about TROPHY trout, and your the only one i know who eats trophy trout:p

Ray 08-14-2010 05:35 PM

I don't catch trophy trout. I catch eatin trout...

catch.and.fillet 08-14-2010 06:58 PM

I eat what I catch. I got enough trophies from junior high. It don't matter as long as it's in the boat. You come on my boat, fish what you want - I got two baitwells. I'll switch between plastic and live and go back and forth all day.

But I admit, after I catch an 8 lber on whatever I use, live or plastic, it'll be the first thing I throw for a loooong time!

specktator 08-14-2010 07:01 PM

U gotta do what u gotta do sometimes to put fish in the boat. I dont like to use it. Heck, I cant even throw a cast net. Thats how seldom i use it. But if I cant pick them up on plastics I will fish live bait before i scratch. I think a big fish is a big fish, live or plastic.

in my opinion i wouldn't feel as accomplished cathcing an eight pound trout on live than i would on artificial.

I personally like to throw back anything much over 5 pounds, there's no reason to kill that one exceptional fish just for another fillet unless your going to mount it.

If I am with someone who wants to eat it/show it off, throw her on ice!

Baiting them

Some do it.....some don't.

This one flew under the radar! I guess it would have hijacked the fishing thread. You can put a pile of corn for deer and no problem. Do it for doves or ducks and you're in big trouble. I'm certainly not for duck baiting but nobody gets upset if you kill a trophy deer over corn.
