Hey Whaler........going down Hwy 23 when you get in Bura's turn at the (HUGE) American Flag.....you cant miss it go to the end of the street about 300 yds turn right & it's right there. The Black Velvet, very good seafood restrauant. Very good seafood gumbo there along with everything else.

jerry lee's is on greenwell springs rd. 1/2 block east of flannery rd . on the north side of the hwy.
I second the black velvet everything i've had there has been great.

Black Velvet is the best food way down South on Hwy. 23.
You can also get some decent food at Venice Marina.
The only decent boudin I found down there is at a fruit/veg. stand called Becknels, just South of Belle Chase, on the East side of the road. They have a sign selling
Creole Tomato's and boiled peanuts too.

There are plenty of hamburger stands on the side of the road. Bunch of new doublewide resturants also.
Last time I was at Cypress Cove marina, they said the owners were not going to open the resturant there, but they were looking for someone to lease it out to.
Not sure if it got opened cause of the BP spill.
