Browning BPS hands down. I've been shooting and abusing mine for right around 10 years both duck hunting and deer hunting. It's sat under water from Hurricane Rita for a couple days, I took it outside and shot 3 shots through it like it was brand new.

Unless it freezes.

all guns

any gun with some moisture in it at 10 degree temps will freeze.I think they make some grease that prevents that

Not really, aromatic will not freeze hard enough to keep it from cycling.
Winchester is made by Browning and just a less expensive copy on the maxus,I'd buy one.

Have a SBE2 that I purchased in 2004. Great gun. Also, I have a Super Nova pump....recently I looked at that new Browning....nice gun. I like the SuperX3.....

mallard matt 12-09-2010 04:39 PM

Ya it was my pump that frove but I literally use it as a walking stick in the timber so it had a lot of moisture in it I could see how that wouldnt happen in an auto

$1500 is too much to throw around for me. I have the 3 and 3.5 inch. (MAGNUM and SUPER MAG). I bought the Super Mag as a loaner gun if a friend wants to go but doesn't have a gun with him. I also use it when I goose hunt. I have $500 invested in two guns. Two guns that will last me a life time. All the guns in the list are fine hunting weapons. I have friends that bring out thier Brownings, Benelli's and other high end guns. I have heard them many times start complaining when the rain starts, or they lay thier gun down and realize they layed it on some bloody birds. I don't cry when it rains nor if blood, mud or feathers are on my barrel.

Only difference b/w SX3 and Gold/Maxus is that the Browning has a magazine cut off switch allowing u to open chamber without releasing another shell from magazine. At least thats how they used to be. U could pull of the forearm on the Gold and SX3 and the guns looked identical. I used to have a Gold Hunter about 12 years ago. Always had problems with it and sold it to a buddy for a steal. Prob didn't help that I was creeping some geese one time with it and forgot to screw forearm cap on all the way and blew all the guts out. But sent it off and got it repaired. And of course he never had a problem with it. It got stolen out his truck last year. His father who passed away had bought it for him. :pissed:

Guess it is our spirit that makes us want the newest and bestist on the market and we get "Sold" every time. Marketing and Credik have lured us down the road to ruin for many years. If most folks had to pay cash for a new gun, they would not be "Chooting" Beretta's,Benelli's,ect., they would opt for an "Express" or "Mooseberg". My favorite gun is a SBE I, wife found it NIB and paid cash for $300 less than guy who bought it paid 2 weeks before.
I did not need it but it sure is a nice gun and has been a work horse for 20 yrs. Guns don't kill ducks,People Do.
