I bought a cheap no name grip from Academy. Rusted out in no time.
Got my wife to get me a Boga for Christmas last year.
Still going strong. They use good stainless steel.

i got a boga, really nice and totally worth the cash... but when it comes to getting big fish in the boat... forget the boga unless u wanna weigh it... GET THE NET!! i've lost a few fish at the boat while screaming "OPEN YOUR MOUTH, YOU SLIMEY #@&#!!" :*****:

Lip Grip

I usually keep 3 or 4 Lip Grips in the boat and we use 'em all the time. They work fine for boating fish once you get the hang of it; plus they float if you drop 'em. :)

For "Big fish" I use a net then use the Lip Grip to get them out of the net. They work really good for holding fish while removing hook(s), especially top-water and cranks.

For weighing fish, I use a lbs. & oz. digital scale (more precise than scales measuring in 1/10 lbs). The Lip Grip weighs 5 oz. and has a hole in one handle to put the scale hook in. The girls like the Lip Grip for holding fish for picture taking.

I have a couple of certified Bogas too I use for tournament fishing but if I'm in a culling situation I still rely on my digital scales and when it gets real close it balance beam time.

Something I've learned about Lip Grip over the years is don't store them with the jaws closed and they will retain a strong grip longer.

I have had a Berkley for over 7 years. No rust, works great on everything from 2 lb hardheads to 25 lb snapper.

Lot of people rather wade with a boga than a net just cause it's less to carry.

Why, a net is 1/3 lighter and floats.
