You don't need to do a Bassmasters hookset as seen on tv with braid. Thats why the leader is breaking. Try it again and just raise the rod tip when you feel the strike and start cranking. The only time I use a leader anymore is when I fish Baffin. Those darn rocks get for a bunch of jig heads everytime. I tie directly to the bait, palomar knot, with braid and use a uni to uni when tieing on a leader.
