That's what I've been doing with my maters cause the grackles/blackbirds and the mockingbirds will eat the ripe ones on the vine. I've picked about 40 romas and the cherry tomatoes are taking off now. Also have picked a few bell peppers, some hot peppers and a couple eggplant.
Only got a small plot on side my house - 4 tomatoes, 2 bell peppers, 1 eggplant, 1 jalapeno, 1 cayenne, and some herbs, but it gets us a few fresh veggies during the summer.
The dry weather has seemed to take a toll this year 'cause the garden seemed to do better the last couple years.

I will do a combo of all the suggestions, I like the cilantro idea and will research that some more... Picking early seems to help as they dont like green maters...

Still planning on building a "structure" of sorts this Fall when things cool down a bit...

Thanks again for the ideas !!!

Real nice, my neighbor takes his bell peppers and stuffs them with ground meat (seasoned) then puts them in the frezzer, when he is ready to cook them he takes out, defrost and throws them in the oven.
