50 yamaha 2stroke or 4? what year? new boat or bought used? cooling system can be tricky to trouble shoot with sensors. check your thermostat first if you dont know how to get to it or have trouble finding it look up your parts schematic on yamahas site or google it. your not the first to have cooling troubles and you can find out a bunch of info on the web before you bring it to the stealership. good thing about yamahas they are easy to work on. all you need is a 10mm and 12mm.
