Own your own business and, I think you'll understand what Raymond is saying. I get it all the time in collision. When customers want to bring their own parts, it cuts me out of a 25% + profit. I don't have a problem with it, except come bill time. And, btw, if you bring your own products/parts for me to paint and install, I'm not gonna warranty the parts when their subpar primers let go and paint is flying off. Also, if it doesn't fit right, I hope you saved enough money to be satisfied with your parts looking like they weren't even made for your car.

Not a contractor, I am a commercial insurance agent and take care of my customers. But, it doesn't bother me when one leaves because of price because they were going to do it sooner or later. My business is built on mutual respect, it is a two way street don't you think? The "Golden Rule" in business is extremely hard to find today but when you find someone who believes in it they almost always stay with you. My dad has the same outlook that you have, he complains about how much his doctors charge but would beotch to high heavens if his day rate gets cut because he believes he has earned it but not the other way around. JMO, if you are only saving $5,000 over your lifetime(age 27) by being a member you are in the hole. There are some very big Assumptions being made to justify spending $$$ ahead of time to save on the backend IMO. Remember, this thread was started on "Opinions" and not "Facts".

But I've done my research. I know what I'm getting and how much I'm saving. You don't know the savings until you get in and compare.

When I decide to put my floors in at my house I'm gunna save 75% and when I change the ones in my camp it will be the same. The savings will be over 10k on those 2 projects alone.

I am a contractor, I build 500,000.00 + custom homes and if a client bought floors from direct buy or any other supplier other than ones I have a good working relationship with I will NOT warranty the work. There is a reason it is cheaper, same as lumber liquidators either they are 2nd's in quality or discontinued, or a lower quality version made for direct buy. Same thing with let's say delta faucet model # 1234 , I can buy that model # at lowes or my plumbing supply house . Same model # but completely different product and price the lowes is cheaper price and quality where the same model # fir the supply house has brass fitting but the lowes has plastic! So if you want to build a cheap house be my guest , direct buy isn't in business to lose $ and give you free stuff they like every business is In it to make money! Cheaper is not better and it is cheaper for a reason in most cases

Pttf, please tell what " high quality" hardwood floors you are putting in your house for 1.99????? Solid hardwood???? Maybe engineered wood that is plywood with a 3/16 wear layer of hardwood! Dude you have no clue! The SOLID antique heart pine floors that are site sanded and finished that is going in my house next week cost 15.00/ sqft installed that's 10/ft in wood! So don't cone on here talking like you know quality! You might know cheap budget spec house but there is a big difference bud!
