the way I clean mine is every 6 months or so i take off all of the line and soak the reels in warm water for 15min or so to let any crud either disolve or losen. after that i take them apart and let them fully dry. Then I use shimano lube and reel magic to lube and polish them up nice. I put a little more viscous reel oil on some of the Major gears then put them back together....respool......and fish. Been doing this for years and all my reels cast better then out of the box.

They still got a few stores with old Curado's and they are around $120 to $130's.
Lew's is ok reel they cast good when you 1st get them then they fall apart.
I had 6 of them when they 1st came out in 2009 and wow everyone been back to Lew's atleast 4 times until I finally sold them all. Really a Johnny Morris reel with black paint and tear drop handles.Wouldn't put much stock in Lew's lasting that long if you inshore fish.
Save the money and buy a Academy Mettle similar reel just better built.
