W, how fast do you need to be working the bait this time of year? Do you let it hit bottom before starting the retrieve of keep it moving as soon as it hits?

when they are feeding it really dont matter but when the water is real cold and the fish are picky.... you will have to slow it down.... most of the time you will barley feel the bite.....This is where lots of people miss fish

From a new angler trying to learn. Why is 1/8 better than 1/4 during this time of year?

bait falls slower. I caught a couple on a 1/16 head yesterday too

YellowMouth7 12-29-2011 01:21 PM

cold water = lighter and slower presentaions.....a good sensative rod and 100% floro will help you to catch many more fish this time of year.

when you think you are fishing slow......slow down

You can come with me if you're giving away baits..

Hey Trevor, what brand floro you use?

Don't get discouraged Mako19. I don't know your history with BL, but it takes years of fishing a body of water to learn its patterns. Keep at it and it will all come together.

Just imagine the hell I am gonna catch when I fish BL. I have only fished BL with a guide a couple of times and worst of all, my boat has TX tags.

YellowMouth7 12-29-2011 03:06 PM

Dad I will bring you on the next one.....Mike, My dad said to stop talking to him...BlackMamba, Bassassasin turned me on to Seagar Invisex 100% floro. I put half a spool of triline big game 12lb mono for backing then tie a uni to uni for my conecting knot to 15lb Floro.

if thats the seagar in the blue and yellow box, that is some awesome clear line that works great, I use it too for bass and trout fishing. doesn't kink and brake as much as cheaper flourocarbon lines.

getonfish 12-29-2011 03:50 PM

AAAHHHHH!!!! so it is the TX tags on my boat keeping the fish away. I have not read about that on the site. I learn sumpin new erreeday. :D

Duct Tape can fix that.

getonfish 12-29-2011 03:55 PM
