They keep the lake sprayed.....its clear for the most part. Still have areas with lillys and duck weed but no hydrilla.

Yeah you right that lake is out of control with gators. They have some pushing 14 foot.

Lake Martin is an old spring fed lake. Now only rain controls the water level...There are no muddy bayous flowing into it to muddy up the water and affect the taste of the fish in the lake. That may be why people find the fish from Lake Martin to taste better then the Basin......

I was told that the spring is a little north of the boat launch and out in the middle of the lake.

There was always too much grass in the lake when I fished there to ever find where the spring was located. Does anyone know where it is located?

LDWF sprays the lake for water hyacinth and common salvinia. Hydrilla was the 'grass' that was in the lake years ago. Grass carp were placed in there in order to remove it. They will not eat the floating vegetation though. Fortunately, this body of water is small enough where managing these invasives is still feasible. Likely, it will never be eradicated, but can be maintained so that people can still fish and boat on the lake. Salvinia = the devil and I see it more and more in our bodies of water:redface:
