yeah! I wonder if those blemished uppers ship right away? it has to be built to be blemished, and if its the barrel finish who cares doesn't affect accuracy or functionality.

just got my shipping tracking # its only gonna be a couple more days now!

Do any of you know if the new frontier lower comes in FDE or just black?

Hopedale Hustler 09-26-2012 07:45 AM

Also these madness uppers from palmetto I like them but do they have rails on them to mount foregrips and lights etc. ? I just finished my ak and y'all got me wanting to build an ar now...I have one already but never built my own.

So this thread has really sparked my interest in getting an AR for a "graduation present" for myself. The rifles I have been looking at were in the $1,000 -$1,500 range. However, reading here and doing a little research I realized I could build 2 for that price (one for the wife too). A friend of mine picked up a DPMS Panther 5.56 Oracle at Cabela's last week for just over $600. My question is, should I try and build a budget rifle or just go pick up the DPMS? It's nice, but HEAVY!! I was figuring that the poly LW-15 lower would help drop some weight on it.

here is a start if you don't mind the lead times:

I do believe you can bolt a rail strip on those for lights etc...

if you peice your own together, don't forget to get someone to check headspace on it before firing it, most of the time with ARs its correct, but if it isn't it could be disastrous to your gun once fired!
just bought rear sight today another $40 spent on it!

LPfishnTIM 09-26-2012 04:17 PM

the reason I peiced mine together was because I'm not financing or paying $1k all at once, makes it easier for me to spend a couple hundred every other week for a gun and not take money out of my savings or be broke for a while! another reason to do it is say you want a les baer upper reciever with no forward assist and a LMT enhanced bolt along with a light weight handrail. your not buying a rifle then changing things on it your building what you want, I didn't want dirt cheap I wanted M16 BCG and a good charging handle, I'm gonna change the buffer spring too down the road, along with a different trigger. I want good moving mechanical parts on a rifle that will help with reliability but other than that I just want to keep it basic other than I want a reflex sight.

Hopedale Hustler 09-27-2012 09:44 AM

Ok so once I have my upper ordered I then need to order a bolt carrier and charging handle?? Any opinions on these ? Wat do diff ones do? What is the difference in one from another ? Also anything else I should be ordering? I feel lost but determined to do this ? I ordered the new frontier got it for 109.99 plus tax...ARs are much more confusing to build than Aks are.

Hopedale Hustler 09-27-2012 09:19 PM

?

SULPHITE 09-27-2012 10:04 PM

Yes if u buy a complete upper with no bolt or charging handle you will have to purchase them

SULPHITE 09-27-2012 10:05 PM

Does the lower come with a lower parts kit and stock?

LPfishnTIM 09-27-2012 10:52 PM

mine came complete already assembled, HH make sure you order a M16 BCG its better balanced, the firing pin is better covered and it should last longer, Core15 has a nickel boron coated one that comes with trigger and charging handle for $200 or if you just want to save money they have a bcg for $120 and a charging handle for $20 which would make the total cost of the rifle even less then 6oo. only thing left is a rear sight!

These are a lil on the dark side, a first batch. They are more of an Emerald/British racing green.

It is just about impossible to have head spacing off on an AR15 that is assembled properly...

SULPHITE 09-28-2012 09:09 AM
