Nitra,Possible to wade the area or have to have a yak? Thanks

Nitramiii 06-06-2013 08:03 AM

Yes, but not nearly as productive. Better fishing has always been further out. I have caught the occasional red and whiteys from land. Up the road near the Pines restaurant (I think) and in Gulf Shores they rent kayaks. You can also go to Fort Morgan and wade for bulls. Don't get me wrong, I'd wade fish these areas and enjoy doing it, befor sitting on the beach all day. Oh yea, I forgot.........watch out for Elvis! He's a 13' alligator that hangs out where we launch. Ha. While walking the shoreline you will half to walk in and out of the thick grass, just be carefull. I've done it a lot and always stay alert.

Obviously Nitramiii is one heck of a trout fisherman...not many around here that
can come up with a stringer of trout like he did. What I was referring to
was Slidellkids comment about no prospect of catching fish over here.
It seems like that most who visit from Louisiana come wanting to Fish our fishery like yours...It ain't gonna happen....we do not have anywhere near the Trout or Redfish that Louisiana offers. What we do have is a completely different. Our bay system offers a great fishery for Gag Grouper,
Red Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Gulf and Southern Flounder, Cobia and a scattering of Triggerfish and Tarpon.
So what I am saying is try our fishery for what it is and you will catch many different varieties that are available to us, And something different for you the fisherman to experience.
