I had mine done in Austin, TX. Dr. Richard Chop. In and out in twenty minuets. Was awake the whole time, didnt feel a thing. Two days of the wife waiting on me and back to work. I will say, shave yourself. That was probably the worst thing, having a male nurse shave me down there.

Whaaaaaaaa???? Does it have to be razor close?

I had it done. I worked Friday till noon, went to the Dr at 2:30 and was out by 4. I was awake the whole time. Back to work Monday. I was doing manual labor at the time. So I iced them on the way to work and on the way home.

Get 3 or 4 bags of peas; rotate them in and out the freezer. I found lima beans worked the best they seemed to stay cold the longest.

You have to wear a jock strap when you leave the office and keep one on for 2 days.

You do have to shave it down to the skin but it's not a problem, makes it look like it grew an inch.

My Dr. wrapped a rubber band around it then took the rubber band and passed it through the handle of hemostats, and then I had to clip them on my shirt to keep it out the way from what the knife.

They give you 2 shots on each side make a small incision pull out the vas deferens tubes, snip them clip them and cauterize them, stick them back in and you get 2 stiches, one on the inside and one on the outside.

It’s not bad, try to get it done on a Thursday or Friday; rest all weekend with them iced up and take it easy. It’s a lot easier on the man than a woman getting her tubes tied.

And you have to go through several ejaculations before you submit your first sample to make sure there are no swimmers left.

So go ahead and make a contract for the wife to help out with process before collecting a sample. ; )

What Dr's names are on your insurance plan. PM me the names and I'll shoot you back a recommendation. Been doing anesthesia in Laffy for 30 years and I know most of them. We're fortunate in that the majority of urologists here are very good I must say.

swamp snorkler 09-12-2013 04:03 PM

I had mine done by a GP in his office. You don't have to go to a urologist.

Ezy EBenoit 09-12-2013 04:04 PM

not bad

I just had it done on August 22nd. Now the process in not pleasant but overall it was not bad.

Docter was William Roth, I was not there long and it was fairly quick. Had it done on a Thursday, Friday i was sore, Saturday was the worst day. On monday i was back at work. Just remember ice pack for 2 days and don't do anything at all for 2 day possible 3.

Good luck

Quite a name for a urologist?

BIGV 09-12-2013 04:18 PM

Had mine done last year and it isn't bad at all, wear loose shorts or light weight pants like jogging pants. Worst part was the shot on each side. I did have some pains for a couple weeks but only because I did not stay down for two days after. Nothing to it.

BigAl 09-12-2013 04:27 PM

I highly recommend it. Not bad at all. And for the sample, have the wife collect it!

RickLafayette 09-12-2013 04:28 PM

My buddy wanted to have it done and his wife was against it. After 2 weeks of discussing it without coming to agreeable terms they let the kids put it to a vote.
They voted for it, 8 to 6. : )

I had one. My doctor was a cute little blond (female) named Dr. Talley. She put me under a little sedative before working on me and I got a little goofy. I told her they were going to call her "Dr. Talley Whacker". I felt pretty stupid when the sedative wore off.

I got a hematoma - a blood clot - in one of my vessels and she had to get down on her knees to examine it while she cupped my boys. I almost blew a gasket on that one.

I really wish I hadn't done it. We thought we were done with kids but a couple of years later when the kids were a little older we were wishing for another one.

On a side note, in general did your insurance cover the procedure? Looking at getting it done but with it being elective I'm curious about paying out of pocket.

Man this thread gets down to the real nut cuttin.lol. Hey BASS once you take a razor to the twins ya woman is gona want em to stay slick. Its cooler during the heat too man.

swamp snorkler 09-12-2013 07:59 PM

All I paid was $30........ my office visit co pay

Actually I paid $60 because I had to go for a pre visit.

Think about it like this. If you were an insurance company would you want to pay $25,000 for the birth of a child or $500 for a vasectomy.
