Seen one in Big Lake recently. I guarantee u she went 35-36". Looked like a damn eel

Most of my money is spent on fishing, fishing tackle, & boats... The rest is wasted.

2nd that on the rocks, unusual for the area surrounding but Baffin Bay will tear up a boat quick. I grew up on lower Laguna Madre and have heard stories of the rocks and boats.

That's a big reason I want to go, my boss and company owner fish down there and said its awesome wading around those big rocks.

I went a couple years back. My cousin lives in corpus and her husband grew up in Kingsville, we go down every year. I think I posted a report on here. It was spring or summer if i remember. We caught a few, nothing big. The guide told us to come back in march if ya wanna catch hawgs.

Here's a little info on the rocks in Baffin:

The famous “Rocks” are another reason that keeps boat traffic down. These lower unit wreckers are the remains of Serpulid worm reefs built hundreds if not thousands of years ago. They are scattered almost randomly throughout the bay and at many places are very close to the surface. They are like fish magnets as they hold many small crabs, shrimp, baitfish which in turn attracts larger baitfish and apex predators like trout and redfish.

I went on a quail hunt a few years ago with a guide from Baffin. He's suppose to be a respected big trout guy down there and he's a great dude. Has a website. Search David Rawsey

Probably what I would do. Plan on making a week long trip with my boat and going with a guide first day to learn the area and tactics, then fish out of my boat the rest of the time. Would like to do the same think in Florida on the Indian River.

Anyone who goes should try to take the King Ranch tour if time allows. It is just outside of Kingsville. I use to work on the King Ranch. Fall would be better though since antlers on deer would be mature. I would recommend King's Inn Reastaurant on Baffin Bay (seafood bonanza) but it is hard to beat the cajun cooking you guys are use to.

Clampy 12-05-2013 06:37 PM

I hunted Nigel Antelope on a ranch that borders the king ranch. It was pretty awesome.

Wow! That's a horse.

Honus 12-11-2013 10:30 AM

The original picture that was posted is not photo shopped. That fish was 30 1/2' and weighed 10.5 pounds. It was caught in Texas but not in Baffin Bay.

East Mattie Trout

That trout and several other big girls was caught December 2 by one of Capt. Brett Sweenys sports. They were fishing East Matagorda Bay. All on Corky B-Backs & Fatboys. She was 10 lbs & change. See more pics on Bretts Facebook page.
