PS: poll says $250, but it's really $150. Can't figure out how to edit

my 168q igloo broke this last year (from my own neglect) after 20 years of service. it was oldschool hand down from my dad that had the rope with wooden handles. cant even imagine how many big fish that thing had kept cold for as long as needed.

Ice Chest
watch the video on youtube "High End Cooler Test by SportsmanGuys.com". The best bang for your buck is the Coleman Extreme according to the test. Less than a $100
|
that was before this one came out =)

I have a couple Coleman XTrememe ice chests, and they are OK. They do hold ice a long time, but it's a rare event I need to hold ice for more than 24-48 hours. The Coleman's are not as rugged as my Igloo 120 qt coolers. One of the two is already retired due to separation of the plastic seam exposing the insulation. The other will probably be retired after another season or two.
I also gave myself a bloody nose once when a Coleman handle came off while I was lifting a heavy ice chest out of the boat. The handles should be engineered to handle a cooler full of ice and fish. You should of seen me bleeding all over the parking lot at Calcasieu Point. I haven't decided what I'll replace them with, but a bit more rugged would be nice. |
Got one just like it be careful of crabs and catfish they will poke holes in that "HEAVY DUTY LINER just as easily as a regular igloo.

I'm guessing backlash without a long enough shock leader sent them sailing.

105 Rubbermaid. Strong and keeps ice well. 12 years and no problems. I think they are around $100
|
It all depends on Your paycheck. You can buy a really nice rod & reel then a ice chest.I really don't really see all the excitement in a ice chest?
|
Agreed-it is apparently a discussion of form over function ..lol
Filet mignon or balogna sandwich - both satiate the appetite Tin roof or Sistine chapel - both keep the rain off I personally have a few antiques (like a crowbar) that work perfectly fine and are completely economical in their longevity and usefulness |

Yeah, lost one by casting it off. No backlash. Then lost the other ones by trying to yank the bait loose and cutting string on oyster. I've learned my lesson the hard way.
