ThePinkBanana 02-26-2014 11:34 PM

PS: poll says $250, but it's really $150. Can't figure out how to edit

my 168q igloo broke this last year (from my own neglect) after 20 years of service. it was oldschool hand down from my dad that had the rope with wooden handles. cant even imagine how many big fish that thing had kept cold for as long as needed.

That's an old man plane Jane cooler, plus those cheap *** latches always break and the 150 qt is too large for the new layout of my boat. This one is "super tough" haha plus it looks WAY COOLER. Since I have an ugly boat, I figure I should Atleast have a middle of the road cooler lol

are you a packers fan?

If you were super cool you get a white one

Paint it Yellow, paint lid Purple and leave handles white

Get LSU stickers then really trick it out

Salt Life
Shimano
Saltwater Soul
Rat L trap
Etc
Decals and your set!!

ThePinkBanana 02-27-2014 01:18 PM

I actually make Ice chest radios as part of my business. I will be making LSU one minus all the decals. I will post pics on here when they are completed. They're really cool for summer time.:*****:

Ice Chest

watch the video on youtube "High End Cooler Test by SportsmanGuys.com". The best bang for your buck is the Coleman Extreme according to the test. Less than a $100

ThePinkBanana 02-27-2014 05:09 PM

that was before this one came out =)

I have a couple Coleman XTrememe ice chests, and they are OK. They do hold ice a long time, but it's a rare event I need to hold ice for more than 24-48 hours. The Coleman's are not as rugged as my Igloo 120 qt coolers. One of the two is already retired due to separation of the plastic seam exposing the insulation. The other will probably be retired after another season or two.

I also gave myself a bloody nose once when a Coleman handle came off while I was lifting a heavy ice chest out of the boat. The handles should be engineered to handle a cooler full of ice and fish. You should of seen me bleeding all over the parking lot at Calcasieu Point. I haven't decided what I'll replace them with, but a bit more rugged would be nice.

Got one just like it be careful of crabs and catfish they will poke holes in that "HEAVY DUTY LINER just as easily as a regular igloo.

After losing about 8 corkies and 4 twich baits, and buying all my wading gear in an attempt to become a wade fisherman, I opted to save $250 and not get the Engel 123 qt. this seems to be more than adequate for my uses, It has durable hinge-type locks, some kind of special coating to prevent sun damage and a pretty cool color scheme. I will put this thing through hell, as i do the rest of my equipment. Hopefully this cooler will prove to be good bang for the buck. If not, I'll fork over the $450 for the Engel next time around.

Did u lose corkies wading? I'm not trying to be smartass but if u hang up just walk to ur bait and kick the piece of shell of and take ur corky out..

I'm guessing backlash without a long enough shock leader sent them sailing.

parker23 02-28-2014 07:24 PM

105 Rubbermaid. Strong and keeps ice well. 12 years and no problems. I think they are around $100

GoneFishin 03-01-2014 10:32 PM

It all depends on Your paycheck. You can buy a really nice rod & reel then a ice chest.I really don't really see all the excitement in a ice chest?

fisheye 03-02-2014 01:54 AM

Agreed-it is apparently a discussion of form over function ..lol
Filet mignon or balogna sandwich - both satiate the appetite
Tin roof or Sistine chapel - both keep the rain off

I personally have a few antiques (like a crowbar) that work perfectly fine and are completely economical in their longevity and usefulness

Just put dinks in

But that 150 is good for crabbing and for all your boiled stuff also

ThePinkBanana 03-03-2014 08:47 PM

Yeah, lost one by casting it off. No backlash. Then lost the other ones by trying to yank the bait loose and cutting string on oyster. I've learned my lesson the hard way.

You need to find a new woman or she needs to find a new you. She must suck really bad. If she sucked good you wouldnt care so much about the ice chest. :)
