You need to put a filter on your actions. Do you really want the next ten seconds to dominate the next two years of your life?

It's as easy as checking your ego. Most altercations are due to ego and alcohol, getting/walking away and de-escalating the situation is much harder, but more honorable, than flailing and running the mouth...

One great trainer I had had three simple rules for avoiding self-defense encounters:

1. Stay away from stupid people.
2. Stay away from stupid places.
3. Stay away from stupid things.

Avoiding drug deals, mardi gras, and bars goes a long way. A dear hunting buddy from the midwest tells a story about a shotgun slug and a water bed that further recommends staying away from other men's wives ...

I think the stats bear out the idea that somebody being in the wrong bed accounts for a good fraction of lethal force encounters.

Didn't **** Armey say, ""If I were in the President's place I would not have gotten a chance to resign. I would be lying in a pool of my own blood, hearing Mrs. Armey standing over me saying, 'How do I reload this damn thing?'"

you can ride alligator bayou right past University club. also for some trails, west feliciana parks and rec has some fun trails at the park behind magnolia Baptist church. I haul my bike or bikes when I travel the state for work. Always good to get some excersise in. I hate river road. i ride the levee back and forth for a good workout or go to Saint Francisville.
