Maybe if we would legalize weed...we would stop pushing people into the criminal element where lots of these other drugs are available.
Poison like roxy, oc's...really any opiates are readily available at these pain management clinics. They are hooking thousands of people on what equates to heroin and not thinking twice. The painkiller epidemic is just that, an epidemic. It's unbelievable that we continue to imprison people for pot yet we let these doctors slang synthetic heroin while making millions.

Saying someone ingesting a substance is a criminal act is ridiculous. Selling to kids yes. Execute them. I don't care.
If you look at it as there is no good or bad substance ( which the are not ) substances can't be good or bad they just are.
If you look at it that way police action on drug offenders is essentially a tax evasion offense.

Clampy 03-31-2014 07:32 PM

Well if possessing a substance wasn't a crime he wouldn't have to put em there.

Wonder how much of that money was stolen out of my truck

southern151 03-31-2014 08:49 PM

$3560 in cash, if my counting is correct. I'm sure his 9-5 job paid that!

Sadly, he'll post bail and, be after it tomorrow morning, again.

Pain management clinics aren't like they used to be. The FDA and FBI has shut down a vast percentage of the "shady" ones....the ones that you walked into with a handful of cash and come out with a handful of prescriptions. You don't do that anymore. I am a pain management patient at The Spine Center in Covington, LA (Dr. Scott Sondes). I'm not familiar with others, but, this one is legit. You don't become a patient without an MRI showing that you are truly in need of their services and MRI's are updated every 9-12 months to note any changes. Every visit begins with a drug test. I see the doctor every 8 weeks and anytime within that span I can be ordered to the office up to 3 times for a random drug screen.....that day. If any substance, including alcohol, is found in your system other than what is prescribed by Dr. Sondes.....you are toast!!! One chance....that's it!!! You are immediately dismissed and referred to drug rehab. I'm sure there are still some out there that don't play by the rules. There used to be several in this area of the state, but, like I said...they're gone. I understand your point and I agree totally, but, just know that there are legit ones that take a patient's well-being into consideration and are not just there to make a quick buck.

This is how they should be run. Fact is, many of them are not.

Salty- You need to come spend a day with me if you think pain management clinics are legit. Yours might well be, but I have set in the parking lot of some for 3 hours where 98% of the plates on vehicles had drug distribution histories. Watched a van of 7 people go to one, and in 22 minutes all 7 come out with scripts. Then after all 1120 Roxies were filled, they poured them into a gallon zip-loc bag and delivered them to our UC at $18/pill. If you think DEA and FBI are shutting them down, you are sadly mistaken. As soon as one doctor is revoked, his buddy takes up the slack.

Clampy - if you think "Dro" and "weed" are the same you have been smoking it entirely too long!!!!! Hyrdoponic marijuana is much stronger that field grown weed and the THC will impair someone to a greater degree than regular weed. To the point they are a danger to themselves and those around them. It is the same as a college student drinking beer to get drunk one night - then going out and slamming shots of Patron. The level of impairment is different and faster.

I use this saying to people all the time - in the thousands of patients I have transported over the years, hundreds and hundreds of those were overdoses. Of those hundreds of overdoses, do you know how many were OD's of weed...........NONE, not a D$mn one of them - why, because you can't.

It will be - and needs to be legal. Not sure why it still isn't. - Even the DA's are for it. Problem is just like alcohol in prohibition - "how to make it legal" is the problem.

I said in this area.....meaning Washington/St. Tammany Parishes.

I think it's unfair to the people abiding by the law to lump all these establishments into one group, but, I guess one bad apple does spoil the whole bunch. I listed some of the requirements that are set by the legit ones and there's no way around 'em. If I were to go to the ER today, get a "script" for any type of pain med and get it filled......I'd be automatically dismissed from pain management before the sun went down. That's the way it ought to be.
