PP 10' Blade

I agree spend the extra money now instead of later and go with the 10' blade.

Get the 8 if you're fishing 6' of water or less. Get the 10 if you expect deeper water. They only offered the 8 when I purchased mine, but wish I had the 10. The 10 means less anchor pulling.

I love my ipilot, which is why I have not spent the money on a pp. I am leaning towards a stick-it anchor for the times that I know I will be there for a while.

I have the 8ft and the ipilot and it works, there are times I wish I had the 10ft though, but I use the powerpole less now that I have the ipilot.

Def get the 10' pp wish mine were 10s do not get a talon they are junk. The universal bracket system they have is real ****ty looking too.

What's your experience with a talon that would make you say they are junk?

I install 20 to one powerpoles to talons. The talon moi ting brackets are universal and huge and just junky. The problems I see with the talons is they get stuck and you have to rock them out sometimes, and they will blow a fuse is moved to far then you have to crank them up Manually. A talon also weights about 65 lbs where a pp is around 30. With pp you have a problem you talk with someone the first time no automated service like with minn kota. When people come in and want talons I try real hard to get them to go with pp

Any word on the new talons, they just came out with a 10 and 12 ft. versions which are suppose to have a setting for softer bottoms to eliminate them getting stuck.

There used to be a video on you tube that showed a side by side comparison between the two. Real life use. It showed why PP is the way to go over Talon. Not sure why that video was taken down? But I ended up with a PP and have no regrets. That video was clear to me. Talon sucked.

What size boat? I had a 22' triton with talon and liked it. Bought a 24' that had a 8' powerpole on it and switched to a 12' talon. I found that the powerpole did not hold as well especially in rough water or rapidly changing tides. The new talon are not as loud.

Have fished with both- power pole is the way to go.

I have only put one 12' on a boat since they came out they do have a setting for rough water and soft bottom but I don't know how well it works. I have never had a problem with my pp not holding unless it was in 7 1/2 ft of water but that's with any anchor system on a rough lake.

I was in la flounder fishing alot last year and watched guys with talons and pp. The pp is more popular now but the talon is gaining ground around here. When a big ship came by most of the guys with pp were washed off their spot. Even had a 20' aluminum that has dual pp and he was washed off several times right in front of me. The talons just swung around and stayed. I saw one talon that didn't hold when a ship came buy. But we have big dbl anchors out and we got washed off spot. Usually we are set with our anchors down.
At rayburn last week we pulled up to Caney boat launch and was wondering what it was with all the blue lights at boat ramp. There was 3 intercoastal type bass boats and all had talons. I question them about geting stuck and they said in soft mud you may have to rock the boat but never had to ratchet up yet. They also said with the soft bottom mode that should solve the problem that some say they have. The soft bottom mode is now on the 10' and 12' but will probably show up on the smaller ones later.
I was at the houston boat show this January and a dealer told me not to go with the talon?
